I would contact your dogs breeder and ask for advice-after all if your dog is good she'll want the best for her.

Is there a Ringcraft neasrby where the person taking it is in your breed too. We do this and are lucky to only travel 10 miles to them.

I must admit I find it somewhat awkward to position the back end of my dog - I am always frightened of hurting his "bits"

That's one of the advantages of showing a freestanding breed!

lel, how do you position his rear that his bits are in danger----the best way is to hold the hock joint and move each out from there-unless hes got humongous bits  he should be safe

What breed do you have Ferret, as some ringcraft skills are breed specific?

If you let me know the breed I might be able to point you in the direction of someone who could help you.

Lel

Try spreading your fingers either side of his bits and then you won't hurt him at all.

Hi Ferret!
As well as trying to find a great handler to help you, I would also purchase Show Ring Secrets? by the great American Handler George Alston, it contains things in it that I never ever heard in years of ring craft classes in the UK.
Good luck

What breed to you have?. I was a successful junior handler here before going off to work for professional handlers in the USA for a few years so could give you a few tips if you mail me.

I must say i am very impressed with the judge you had and the help and advice he gave you, wish there were more judges like that
