My dogs breath stinks and i do not know what to do. Should i brush her teeth or take her to a vet...or is that just normal for a dog

Thank you

You should brush your dogs teeth - but if the breath is that bad - get her to a vets so they can check she does not have an infection and arrange to get her teeth scaled and all nice and clean and take it from there. Also look at what you feed and what chewy things she gets. If she is fed canned food - this is notoriuos for sticking to the teeth and causing problems.

Ragger toys are good for helping keep teeth clean - but the make up of the dog also differs from dog to dog. My boys are fed exactly the same food have the same chews etc etc yet one has spotless teeth - the others are a chore and almost impossible to keep clean.

If a dog gets something like a stick stuck in its mouth then it can have very bad breath after it has been there for a while. It is possible for this to be the case and for you to be unaware that there is a problem, so a check with the vet would be a very good idea. Hope this helps!

I have brushed Roxie's teeth since she was a puppy but she still got tarter on her teeth. Recently someone suggested she was allergic to dog food with corn and wheat and I changed her to Golden Fluken. Her teeth after 3 months are almost tarter free. Roxie will be 8 in October.
