Can anyone help? I'm going up to the Lake District (Patterdale) with my 2 dogs for a week 9th - 16th August. Does anyone know if there are any companion or open shows during this time. I realise that it is near the closing date for any open shows.

Yes! What I believe is called The Cumbrian Circuit takes place during this time. You will just miss Cartmel Show, which is on the 6th, but there is Lancaster & Morecambe Agricultural Society on the 9th, held in Torrisholme, Lancaster, and then Lunesdale Agricultural Society at Kirby Lonsdale on the 12th. I will try and email you with the Secretary's number - entries close the middle of next month.
Companion dog shows as well, I imagine. There is a good one at Grasmere in August, part of the Sports Day. Think that might be the end of August though.

Lowther Show is 8-10th August - they have a fun dog show, working terrier show and lurcher show all on Sunday - not sure what breed you have but there should be something there. It is also a great day out - there are the horse driving trials, various other livestock events and displays. And the terrier racing is always a hoot and is open to all breeds - our veteran Maremma had a ball in that last year!

There is an open show at Newton Rigg near Penrith on Sun 10th Aug, closing date is 14th July. I have e-mailed you the secretary's tel number
