I had Cam weighed again today and he clocks in at 10kg. He's exactly 10 weeks old. This means he has put on just over 3kg in two weeks. Does this sound healthy? Is he gaining too quickly? God, the stress of puppy rearing. :)

Ive just checked my calendar and Taz was 9.2 Kg at 10 weeks. So sounds pretty good to me. Taz was gaining weight at an unbelievable rate in the early weeks, easily 3 Kg in a couple of weeks I would say. Cam didn't look exactly skinny to me when I saw him, though possibly a tad on the lean side, nothing to worry about, and I must say I prefer my dobes to be well covered anyway, but if he is 10 Kg at 10 weeks he must be piling it on now:D It is a worrying time I agree. Taz is definitely becoming a teenager now, starting to give me the run around. Took her to the park on Sunday and let her off the lead in a quiet area, would she come back to me, like heckers would she. She just switched off completely, didn't hear me at all. Felt a right twit shouting and shouting her name. She eventually ran over to some other dogs and after giving me the run around again I finally grabbed her. I put her straight back on the lead, and I have to admit to being a little nervous about letting her go again. Don't know how I am going to get round this little problem.

Thanks Bev. He's definitely put more weight on now - I'm pleased with how he's looking at the moment. I took him to the beach again today, by train, for the experience. God, my arms hurt! He thoroughly enjoyed himself, though I have to say has been a right little sod tonight - only just gone to sleep and it's nearly midnight!

I can sympathize with you on the recall issue. Cam without a doubt knows his name, but if there happens to be something interesting going on in the opposite direction when I call him, selective deafness seems to occur. I'm hoping to do a bit of work on this over the next few days, but I anticipate problems in the future. :D

I guess Taz is about to enter the teenage phase ... just don't let her stay up late or hang around with boys!

Hi, 1kg per week of age is a good guide for a dog of this size (bitches may be less). Therefore at 10 weeks, 10 kgs is about right.
Recall - not likely with my lot :)
