I AM TAKING MY PUP ON FRIDAY FOR HIS FIRST JAB. SOME VETS SAY TO LEAVE THE 2ND JAB FOR 4 WEEKS, UNTIL HE IS 12 WEEKS OLD. I THOUGHT YOU COULD TAKE THEM AT 8 WEEKS THEN AT 10 WEEKS. CAN ANYBODY ADVISE ME PLEASE.

Hiya
The usual is 8 weeks, then again at 10 week.
That is what most vets do, it is the way all the vets I have worked at do it. 4 weeks in between seems a bit long.
good luck

I've just rehomed 2 litters a total of 13 pups, my vet told me first jab at 8 weeks, 2nd at 10 weeks then short walkies at 11 weeks :-)

The number of jabs/space between them depends on the make of vaccine. I went to an Intervet talk a cojuple of years ago abouth their new vaccine which could be used from 6 to 8 weeks for the first, and the second at 10, after which the pup can go straight out. When I asked my Vet about using this product she said she had not yet been shown accurate and convincing data proving this regime was as effective as the older method of 2nd jab at 12 weeks. So we are ctill using the 8/12 week routine. Quite a few Vets in this area do 8/10 and then 12 week - 3 i n all. Never had it fuly explained why this was necessary.
bye

mine pups was 8 weeks then ten weeks then i could take her straight out. I think getting them out early to experience new things does tem good. She is 11 weeks now and has met cars a bus and lots of children :-) and a hand full of dogs, and as yet she has had no probs.

I carried my pup around while all this was going on so it shouldn't stop you socializing outside—your pup can still play with/meet vaccinated dogs as long as its done in an area that you know unvaccinated dogs haven't been (like a friend's garden/house).

My pups have just had their first jags 8wks and go back at 10wks for the other, then start training classes at 12 wks.

Hi

I know way back it used to be 8 and 12 weeks however most are 8 weeks and 10weeks as they need to be socialised as early as possible and preferably from what i am aware socialisation should be well on the way before 12 weeks of age.

you have to wait for 1 week after the 10 week jab though before you can take pup out!

Good luck with your pup.
