To know if a stud dog is good you will have to be abole to assess your bitches qualities, and choose one that complements her virtues, and is stron in her failings, Geography is not a good means of choosing.

You will need to be able to see the available males, and really the only practical way to do this (other than visiting every males home) is to attend shows, where you can see them in competiion wioth each other.

Also a reputable stud dog owner will want to assess the quality of your bitch, preferably from seeing her against other bitches in the ring.

Both parents should be Hip Scored, and possibly have other health tests. You would be well advised to join your breeds breed club, so that you can do the needed research into breed lines events, other breeders and stud owners etc. Attending their events, especially educational ones witll help a great deal.
