Hi. Our Weimaraner bitch, Luna, is just over 1 year old. we've had her since she was 5 1/2 weeks (due to the breeder giving us incorrect age details). She is the best dog in the world in most respects. She's loyal, loving and gets on great with our cat. (They were brought up together). There is really only one downside and that is her separation anxiety. I know that the Weim breed is naturally highly strung and take a lot of exercise (which she gets in abundance) but we are having pretty severe problems with her howling when we leave her for more that 5 minutes, whether she's in the car, or at home (or pretty much anywhere where she can't be with us).
I know that her premature separation from her mother was a big no-no, but unfortunately that's in the past. I also work from home so she's got constant company (which probably doesn't help either). Our vet has prescribed Clomicalm (a drug which over time is supposed to reduce the SA symptons when used with constant training).
However, we have been training her (leaving her for a few seconds then returning with praise and a treat if she has remained calm, but we don't appear to be making any real progress.

Does anyone have any experience of this debilitating problem and if so do they have any advice?
