Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / marrow bones

hi,
i have an 11 week old cocker spaniel (he's just gorgeous) I wanted to give him a marrow bone from the butchers but have no idea if this is ok. A friend said it might give him the runs and that he is too young. Will it be ok and do i need to cook it? Also do i need to remove the marrow? I intend to get the butcher to chop it smaller if its very big. Thank You

He should be ok with a marrow bone but don't cook it, cooked bones splinter. Although at that age I usually give beef or lamb rib bones. When he's a bit older a marrow bone would be fine but dont leave it out too long in this weather because of flies.
