What a palava! I have to tell you about my brave little cocker. Last night my fiance and I went to the pub, with our cocker spaniel, Millie, ( it is a nice place with no history of violence) and sat in the beer garden and got our drinks. The table near us filled up with a group of.....well......drunk yobs for want of a better word.
Then one of them decided he was going to wander down the beer garden and come back again, except he didnt quite make it back to his table. For some reason he stood at our table and just stared at my fiance. He had a bit of a face on him, looked about early 20's and looked as though he had been in a few fights in his time. My Millie picked up on something and started to growl at him. He wasnt expecting it i dont think ( nor was I, very unlike her) as she is so cute and small. The nearer he got, the louder her growl became. At this point we were thinking "lets move" but that wasnt to be. This bloke sat own next to me ( and millie) and started leaning closer. Millie didnt take kindly and the growl got worse. Just as we were thinking of moving, his mate came over and began doing the same, so we were blocked into our table and coudnt get out. Millie was terrified and shaking, but it didnt stop her growling. The pair of them started being really abusive and rude to me and steve (my fiance). We kept telling to leave and we were shouting it eventually. Then one of them got really out of hand and after taunting millie, ran up to steve and gave him a punch in the face...for NO reason!! At this point Millie lept up and in a mass of growling and barking, bit the blokes hand to keep him away...well, it worked. She scared him off. She is 9.8 kilos ( a very small cocker ) but she is certainly a brave one...god knows what would have happened if she hadnt been there. She was cetainly a hero to us!!

What a brave little dog. Its amazing how dogs can sense trouble, when it might affect their owners. Even the quiet ones that you would think could not hurt a fly!

Good for her, lets hope it was a really sore bite she gave him. She deserves a big juicy raw bone.

Oh I spoilt her rotten! :) I had taken a bag of treats with us to the pub for her, I think i pretty much gave her the whole bag as a thank you. Its true what people say, dogs seem to have a 6th sense..they just know when somethings not right. They are so loyal. No matter what size they are.
xx

thanks jo. Steve is just nursing a bit of a bruise and graze, luckily that is all. Thanks for your concern.Lets hope it doesnt happen again. Everyone is saying we should report it to the police. I think i shall. Just in case they try it on with someone else.
Everyone needs a dog:)

Why didn't the landlord report the incident to the police?

Thats exactly what we said. What was really bad was that the barman who saw it just stood and watched. We asked the manager if they had reported them, or called the police and they said " we threw them out, it wouldnt be worth calling the police". hmmmm, great, so they are now on the streets and could potentially do it to someone else.
