Do be careful. If you should see an advertisement for your chosen pup check the breeder out with your local trading standards officer and ask if she is licensed. then check with the breed rescue club to make enquiries if she is an ethical hobby breeder. Never buy from a pet shop or dealer.

I had two Cavaliers when my children were 10 & 12. No problem with my children, but we did find that visiting children tended to treat them like toys, and want to pick them up all the time, which was a nuisance.
They were also very noisy, but that might have been worse because we had two together.
Cavaliers have a high incidence of heart problems - one of ours was affected, but he still lived till he was 11, the other one reached 14!
They were lovely dogs, though, and I adored them. But you do need to be careful to find a good and reputable breeder.

Like any breed - they are only as good as the training and treament that they receive. My in-laws had a CKCS when my son was a baby. It was the most awful dog - it had been very spoilt and would bite anyone at the slightest thing - like sitting on the sofa near it. I was really worried every time that they came to stay as my son was only a toddler. When they had to have it PTS, just as I found out I was expecting my daughter, I breathed a big sigh of relief :(
I am sure, given the right circumstances, that they can be wonderful pets tho :)

Hi,
I think CKCs are a great choice for a family. They are very sweet, not to much grooming ( except those ears) and easily trained. Tri-colours tend to be quite vocal, blenheims seem quieter ( well with mine anyway ) They are however tiny as pups and you have to be very careful, especially with children.
Do make sure that you only buy from breeders with heart and eye tested dogs and ask to see the certificates for the pups parents. Where in Kent are you?
Good luck in your search.
Debbie
