I once heard that a bitch will have more pups if she is mated as much as possible during her season! I very, very much doubt this is true! I'd expect the most she'd have is about 6, 4 probably being the average.

You should buy The Book of The Bitch and read up before you embark on a breeding programme..

Think you should research your breed and the bitch..

Schipperke average 2 - 3 puppies with the maximum known here in the UK I think was 10 not all surviving. It is not unusual for them to produce upto 7 puppies but rarely do they all survive especially those pups under 3oz at birth.

Schipperkes although a minority breed are not an easy breed to find good homes for your puppies and I certainly don't breed without a good dozen 'firm' homes waiting for any of my babies. Then of course you have to get all her testing done which is expensive with the most vital being MPS IIIb the new one only being available from April 03, I had my swabs in by May and am still waiting on my American bloodline results.
