Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / labrador?

Hi
I wonder if anyone can help. I live in a ground floor flat with a balcony and communal gardens and lots of parks all around. I work from home and have been trying to decide for a long time whether a labrador would be a suitable breed of dog to have. Can labradors be happy in an appartment if they get lots and lots of love, attention and heaps of walks? Also are labradors a breed known for barking? This would be a problem as I would not want to disturb the neighbours too much!!!
I am grateful for any advice on this subject.

With the proviso that someone is at home all day and they get lots of exercise, I don't see why not. :)

I don't think that Labradors are any more prone to barking than any other breed.

My first lab was very happy living in my flat with me. We went out at least twice every day. An my neighbour took him at other times. (we had a sharing rota of our dogs)

I don't necessarily believe someone has to be home ALL day, but a large part would be nice.

Be wary of communal gardens as your neighbours could be upset with the dog goes to the loo there.

Actually, I agree it's probably not neccessary to be at home ALL day so long as they are not left too long. :)

Check your tenancy agreement before you go ahead. Many do not allow dogs. Good luck
