I am thinking of buying a westie puupy, although i have read all about this breed i have been given different prices of the cost of the breed and would be greatful if someone could give me an idea of how much the breed should cost.I am not looking for a show dog or to breed, my puppy will be a family pet only.

you are looking at around £400 ish. Although different breeders will have slightly different prices. Make sure you get a reputable breeder and get to at least see the mother. Also, make sure it is KC registered. So many people are still getting away with puppy farming and the problem is, they are good at fooling people.
If you give the kennel club a ring, or go onto their website,www.the-kennel-club.org.uk, you can request a breed list and find all the breeders in your area or anywhere in the country, and you can be sure that they will begood breeders.

Getting a list of breeders with pups from the KC is not the way to find a good breeder, an awful lot of puppy farmers register their pups and go on the breeders list to sell them!!!!

Your best bet is to phone the KC ask for Breed Club Secretaries tel. No. and phone them, they will know who are the reputable breeders and who aren't.

The current price of a westie from a good breeder is about £550 to £600. But please be very careful who you buy from as westies are prone to skin problems and allergies. I would strongly suggest dog insurance (the type that covers a condition for life not just for a year).

A well bred puppy in scotland is around £500

a well bred one down south is £550 ish Should not really be much more.

Be aware of the breeders lists on any site , get references and don't be fooled by the GT GT grandfather is CH so in so as it means nothing. A lot of naughtly breeders around who have a skill in saying the right words.

I even recommend people who find a puppy to call up a few show breeder with good reputations to ask if they have heard of them.
