Mini Scnauzer has had quite a stick eye since yesterday. A friend recommended that I bathe it in cooled boiled water every couple of hours today to see how it goes. It's quite weepy and I've noticed that the white of this eye on the inner corner is red.
Should I get her of to the vets today - or should I wait a day or so and see how it goes??
Thanks

Hi, this is just my opinion, but I would go to the vets today as eye infections can get nasty and the sooner you start treatment the quicker it will clear up. If you leave it, it will get worse and treatment will then take longer to kill the infection. I speak from my own point of view not my dogs as I had a nasty infection in my eye last month and because I did not get something for it, a month later I am still treating it :( So go now just to be on the safe side. Sarah

After u bathe the eye put polysporin for eye's in her eye three times a day (about 1 drop). U Can get drops or the sab one. I use both on my dogs if they seem to have a little infection, but if it doesn't clear up in a day or two then I would definately go to the vets. This is just my personal opinion.
ttfn :)

at the moment the pollen is high and two of my dogs have yellow discharge, the vet saw tehya on monday for her injection looked in her eyse and said it was not infected,so it like hay fever in humans dog do get too.and to day will be bad, plus if the dogs are walking in a woody and grass area the pollen will not help.

My pup had a touch of sticky eyes and the breeder said to bathe his eyes in cooled boiling water with a bit of salt in ( half teaspoon to every pint of water). She said it could be down to teething - so maybe your pups the same.

My pup had slightly sticky eyes for a while, I was convinced it was her teething, her ears were a little mucky too, and needed cleaning out daily, which she absolutely loves. She has just about lost most of her teeth now and her eyes are no longer sticky and her ears are clean too. So it could well be down to teething. Though if in doubt a trip to the vet might be in order.

Dear All
Thanks for the replies - I'm still bathing it and it is gradually getting better. I called the vet the other day and they said that as she'd had this for several days without it getting worse I could carry on bathing it for a few more days. If she still has any symptoms by Friday I think we'll take her for a check up!
Thanks again
Karen.
