Can anyone tell me where I can buy a Dremel or dremel-type grinder for filing down nails? I had a lovely cord-free one when I lived in the US but have not been able to find the same in the UK, at least not from a pet supplier. All the big internet and mail order pet suppliers in the US seem to have them, but not so in the UK.
The only grinder I could find from a UK grooming catalog I sent back for a refund. It was horrible and heavy and the supplier had clearly just slapped their label over something meant for Bob the Builder's use. It also came with no instructions whatsoever about how to use it for dogs - I know that the higher revolutions could cause the grinder to heat up and this thing looked like it could grind a hole through a bank vault.

Argos do them. I imagine B&Q or any of the hardware stores like that would, too.

Got mine from Homebase a few years ago - I should think that you'd be able to get them cheaper somewhere else though.

A dremel is for 'bob the builders diy stuff':)
The best instructions for doing dog nails is at www.doberdawn.com. It is fanstastically detailed.
You don't need to get a 'dremel' brand one - any brand will do and most will be cheaper - we got ours at B&Q. Shame the dogs didn't like it though.

Thanks everyone. I will stop trying to get one from a pet supplier and try the DIY route. Thanks for the link Wendy.

No problem - probably a heck of a lot cheaper from the DIY places as well:) Ours was a Black and Decker corded brand and was on sale for about £25 when we got it.
