Just had a phone call from my local Kennels.
In the past few weeks three dogs have been found wandering in the same area a local beauty spot.
None have so far been claimed and the dog warden is getting suspicious that these dogs may well have been stolen somewhere else in the country and then dumped here. This is the time of year when we get an influx of travellers camping in the area for the fruit picking season.
The were all found near Holt in North Norfolk
One is an entire GSD male, no microchip or tattoo.
One is a terrier puppy about 9-10 months old. no microchip or tattoo
The last one looks to be a Swedish Vallhund Bitch 2-3 years old no microchip or tattoo.
If anyone knows of anybody who lost dogs of this type that have gone missing perhaps they could let me know.
Jayne
Hi Jayne
When the Vallhund was first handed in we were told she was probably middle aged (initially thought to be a Corgi but then a Vallhund or Vallhund cross) This girl must surely be unusual enough breed to be missed and reported somewhere in the country but I gather no-one has come forward yet.
Christine
Hi Christine
They now think she is almost definitely a Vallhund and no more than 2-3 a little nervous of people.
Like you I am surprised that no-one has come forward for her.
But with the three being found in the same place the warden is starting to think that there is something strange about it all.
I will be going to have a look at her probably this afternoon, so will let you know whether I think she is a purebred or not.

Hi, I have vague recollections of a lost notice for a swedish vallhund in my vets. It was a national missing animal company, i'll pop in and check today and let you know!

Wouldnt it be lovely if they all found their way home again - I do hope so

a good lesson...tattoo or chip your dog! Doesn't guarantee safe return, but improves the chances..

Hi, I have been in touch with my vets (which is in Bourne, lincolnshire) they did have a poster up regarding a lost vallhund, but as it had been up for more than 3 months it has been taken down, they don't think it was kept unfortunately. The nurse is pretty sure it was a poster done by the 'Lost Dog Register', so maybe if you can contact them they'll have the details, I am pretty sure that it was a bitch that had gone missing, and it does seem quite a coincidence that one has now turned up! I wonder if the owners have given up looking for her, as the poster was up for ages! Hope it is this little girl and you can track down the owners.
Erin
Thanks Erin
I will inform the dog warden of this tomorrow.
Seems a possibility as Lincolnshire is not that far away.
I'll let you know what happens.

I would contact the breed club too, it is amazing how well the jungle dtums work, especially in numerically small breeds.
I gave them the breed club number yesterday, so hopefully they will have contacted them.

to Lady Dazzle. Would you e-mail adogslife@ntlworld.com So many dogs are stolen but it is unusual for an entire male or unspeyed bitch to be dumped. The gypsies are usually only interested in Saluki/Lurcher/Whippet or steal to ransom. Am interested in the exact area these were found, if you contact me I will give you a telephone number.

I'm pretty sure this is the ad that was in the vets. Seems even more likely considering where she went missing. Its been bugging me that i couldn't find the information, so i did a search for the lost dog register. Hope this helps, let me know please!!
Erin
Thanks Erin
Sounds promising I have just tried to call the tel.number and it is out of order with a fault, sods law or what!!!
But I will keep trying it and will let you know what happens

Have just spoken to the Secretary of the breed club (my own breed).
There is a rescue rep going to see the dog today in the kennels. Have also asked the secretary to check through club records to see if we have any members in the area who may know a working phone number of the person who posted the missing message.
Kate
That brilliant thanks for that, I'll leave it to you as it is your breed. :-D
Hope you can find the owner
Jayne
Let me know how it goes, although probably will get to hear as my daughter grooms there part time.

I really hope we can trace the owner too - we are extremely lucky that we have so few dogs coming through rescue but it is always a shock to find one has been picked up or is in a kennel somewhere.
Kate
I know what you mean Kate
I feel the same when it is one of my breed. (Border Terriers)
The Border Terrier that was reported lost on here this week has been found thank goodness!!!
We lost one of ours 2 years ago and he was never found and so I can sympathise with the owners of this one.
