Hi All ,
Oscar and i are bacl for more of your help. Oscar is 16 weeks old now and we need some more advice on our lead training . I have him walking almost perfectly to heel but when i take him out with the pushchair his heel goes and he pulls like cr0az0y , its a nightmare really putting me off taking him out . I can rarely take him out without the pushchair so really need some help , its hard to even get his attention if i have the pushchair with me as he totally ignores me . What do i do?
Also he has gone from a well balanced laid back dog to totally over excited , his whole bottom goes (instead of just tail and he jumps up and goes crackers). Need to get him to a managable stage.
Its hard as when we leave the house he barks like crazy and barks at every person we go past (hes very vocal). People look at me like i have no control (maybe true i dont know but really want to get him to walk good ) Is beginning to put me off even taking him out and hubs says im just going to make him worse if i only take him out on the odd occassion .
I used the stop , pull back and heel technique to get him to walk to heel (and choc drops!) but he will not listen when pushchair is about , please help us both !!!!!

Hi,
Glad to hear he is coming on well!! :)
I would suggest taking time in the garden to get him used to walking with the pushchair and no child :) then give this a command and make sure he actually knows what the command is, then use this when out for a walk with the chair. As you have used the pulling him back each time technique, if he is a bright puppy, he will have cottoned on to the fact that you can't do this while pushing a pushchair. This is why you are having problems, dogs are more clever than we give them credit for!! :D
Have you thought about putting him in a gentle leader headcollar, this will give you much more control and will help with the pulling to.
Remember he will probably be teething at the moment, which can make their behaviour go a bit mad, our 6 months old Working Beardie was horrible for a few weeks while her big teeth at the back came through, she was very aggressive and stroppy. We have never had this much of a problem with any of our showbred beardies, they have all been fine, but I think she had a hard time of teething.....poor girl. She is fine now and have a lovely set of white knashers!! :D
Good luck
Manda

Hi Manda ,
Thanks for your reply , If i were to use a gentle leader would this need to be a permenant thing?
I did get a Halti we used it twice and it did not work well at all , he also pulls with his shoulders. Not seen the gentle leaders are they different from the halti?
Thanks in advance.
