Any one know how bad the delays are for B'Pool champ(M55)??
Thanks Archer

The roadworks are on the M6/M55 junction and the road gets fairly jammed at rush hour. If you are showing on Friday I would leave extra time to get through them, it shouldn't be too bad on the weekend.
Alternatively, you can come off the M6 at Junction 31 (Preston). Follow the road up towards the town centre till you come to a roundabout (cemetery on your right). Turn right at this roundabout (2nd Exit) towards Blackpool (also signposted to football ground, deepdale retail park etc). This is the old Preston to Blackpool road and if you follow it straight through you will get to the showground.
Hope this helps

Sorry for this but you seem to know the area well.
I am due to meet friends. They are coming down the M6 from Scotland and I am coming up from M62 (or is that M60 now?).
They are staying somewhere in St. Annes and we want to meet at a suitable place (maybe services) just off the motorway, adjacent to where they will turn to St Annes or close to.
Any information would be appreciated.

Ok, you can't turn into St Annes from the motorway you have to either go to the end of the M55 at Blackpool and go back on yourself to St Annes or you have to come off at the junction before (the Fleetwood/Kirkham turn off) and go down past Kirkham to get to St Annes.
Your best bet is to meet at the show which is kind of half way between the two.
Hope this helps

You will have to go through the roadworks if you are going to down the M55 to Junction 4 as they are at the M6/M55 Junction at Broughton Roundabout (Preston North).

Thanks Kate
Hubbie is going down this afternoon, but the kids and I are going after school tomorrow at about 4pm so I guess it will be pretty bad then

Yep your in for a fun time if you hit the junction at 5.00 but after 6.00 it will have cleared.

Thanks so much for replying so quickly.
What you say being the case; where are the nearest services either to or on M55 (or M6 close to M55 junction).
To explain; I'm not going to the show just picking up a dog and turning around to head back home. Hence the need for convenient meeting place close to m/ways.
Thanks

I can't remember exactly but I don;t think that there are any services on the M55! the nearest to on the M6 are well before the M55 junction in either direction.
Don't really know where to suggest - there is a large pub as you come off the motorway or alternatively a large garden centre (Dobbys) on the Preston to Blackpool road
If you want to e-mail privately i will try and give you better directions.
Kate
Hi Kate!
Hope you don't mind me asking another 'directions' question! I am coming to the show by train on the Sunday, so have been told to get off at Kirkham station - do you by any chance know whether the show is walking distance from there? I'm not showing, so I can get there whenever, and don't mind walking - as long as it's not miles!!

I wouldn't want to walk from Kirkham Station to the show ground - not only would i get hopelessly lost but also by my calculation it is at least a 5 mile trek.
There are busses that run to Blackpool from Kirkham though the service isn't fantastic on the weekend particulary Sunday. I think your best bet might be a taxi though.
Kate
Thanks Kate! Five miles is definitely too far! Will get a taxi.

There is actually nothing listed in the Roadworks pages on Ceefax & Teletext for the M55. If they exist, will they be that bad before 9am Saturday morning?

Hi there
Which junction off the M55 is the show and what's the name of the showground. A friend of mine has her new pups out so I'm going to bob down and watch them at their first show.
Thanks for your help.

If you blink you'll miss the roadworks, they are almost non-existant!
