Hi Gillian

You can get the original col-leash, now marketed under the name MIKKI WALKEE from Scampers in Cambridge. This is the col-leash originally invented by John Fisher.

Scampers do a mail order service, Tel: 01353 720431. I recently purchased one for 9.99 including postage.

There is a very similar product out called a Gentle Controller available from good pet shops (I just paid 10.35). This is the same concept as a col-leash but has (I think!!) an easier 'sliding action' adjuster to fit any dog size. I have both and think the Gentle Controller just has the edge but if you have a dog that is very resistant to the nose band and struggles at first, you're less likely to get movement with the col-leash once it has been fitted correctly.

In use, both are effective in eliminating lead pulling.

Hope you get sorted!

Elaine

Hi Elaine
Went to the pet shop and bought a gentle leader think its the same as a gentle controller, what a difference you wouldn't think you where taking the same dog for a walk even my daughter commented on it.By the way my dog is a miniature schnauzer but you wouldn' have thought so the way she pulled.

thanks GILL

I have been looking for the col-leash also since reading about it 2 years ago in John Fisher's books, but could not find any information until I saw this message board! I have e-mailed Scampers about purchasing the Mikki Walkee, but they will not answer my e-mail. I live in the United States and maybe they don't want to bother with sending overseas??? Are you aware if any place sells this article in the United States, or does anyone have any suggestions about how I can get one from Scampers? I have purchased a Gentle Leader and agree that this type of leash makes a world of difference in walking a stubborn dog, but I still would like to try the Mikki Walkee. Our Dandie, who incidentally was born in Germany and flew over to us in late September of 2001, definitely has a mind of his own! Any help would be appreciated.

I have just bought a Mikki 'Walkee' from a company called 'vet-2-pet', through my local vet. Just ask if your vet is part of this scheme. If so, they can order any product for you from the vet-2-pet catalogue (which has all sorts of equipment, including dog training discs),and it will be delivered in a day or two. Mine cost about £5.70 & has been very sucessful in stoping my large lurcher from pulling! The Gentle Controller (which looks a bit like, but is NOT the same as, the Gentle Leader) can brought from www.doggiesolutions.co.uk for about £12.
