Topic Dog Boards / Health / Undescended dog testicle

Hi! I have a pye dog - infact I have 6. It turns out that one of them ("Saqi")'s testicles did not develop. At age 1 1/2 we had him operated upon and the Doc could only find one and removed it . He is 5 years old now and still very aggressive. He constantly terrorizes the other dogs, meanwhile with humans - he is the sweetest thing on earth.

One of the local vets says that if you have removed one then the other one that is left lodged inside grows and can ultimately be found, the other vet says - "leave it alone ... no point opening him up again". What should I do? His aggression with the other dogs is driving my family crazy .....

Thanks in advance .... marina.

Castratiojn may not change his bvehaviour anyway. It might be worth trying Tardak, it is an injectible hormoine suppresant often given to calm males down around in season bitches, or to determine if castration will have the desired effect. If he is much better after this injection, then it may well be worth trying to find the other testicl and having it removed. An experienced Ultrqasound operator may be able to locate it?

Hi,

I agree with brainless, may not change his behaviour as it may not be hormone related aggression. The only thing I would say is that it should really be removed, as there is a fairly high risk of it turning cancerous and causing problems later on.
