Hi, I have just been on the loot.com web site under household and have found the Blacpool Pet shop advertising on there, and saying all dogs come from excellant breeders!!! I think l am not the only one to think that any EXCELLANT BREEDER would not sell to a pet shop. Isn't this just another form of puppy farming. What does everyone else think. They also have some pictures of their dogs for sale on there. Personally l do not think they look that happy. I take it all the eamils and complaints that alot of us did on champdogs did no good.

Exactly!! No reputable breeder would knowingly sell through a dealer! Even the Kennel Club General Code of Ethics that we all agree to abide by prohibits this practice! Of course when a registration transfer goes through the KC they have no way of knowing that the pup didn't come from breeder to new owner, as those are likely to be the details on the form.

Also some of these puppy supermarkets run their own registry, thereby taking in gullible puppy buyers who do not realise the papers they get don't mean anything. I know the KC ones don't exactly give any guarantee of quality, which I wish they would, as that is what people assume. I think that if registration were confined to pups from health tested parents for a start would mean something.

There is another such Kennel in Manchester who sources ourt breed from a couple of poor bitches that have been bred from every season in Northern Ireland.

The majority of our Rescues come from there. We have 3 at the moment a 1 year old male, a 1 year old bitch and a 6 year old male, all of which the owners no longer 'love' just want to be rid of. As far as is known for no real reason.

Hi, The puppies dont all come from irresponsible breeders in Ireland... I know of someone in Manchester breeding his bitch at every season and selling the pups thru the Manchester 'Pet Shop'.... and we too have had quite a few dogs thru rescue because of this practice. What really annoys me is the fact that the Kennel Club are registering most of these pups and the rest are sold with the Dog Lovers Registration....

These places should be shut down, but because some vets and councils approve of selling puppies this way they will continue.

Anyway thats my twopennarth... for what its worth:)

Hi do you mean an Elkhound bitch, (I had been told by someone that had one of our breed from there that they encourage the bitch owners to come back for the name of a 'Stud' and that they would buy any pups produced!) if so I would be interested to know, because as far as we in our breed are aware we only have this one source selling to this place. I am certainly aware that Northern Ireland isn't the only source of puppies from other breeds.:(

Iam a new member of champdogs.
the breeding practices of some make me sick.
a few weeks ago in loot a spotted an ad asking for people to sell pups for a breeder in ireland
Can you imagine what kind of folks would offer to do this for money. Also there is a pet supermarket in manchester with pups DLR,one poor corgi i saw in there was 5 months old its litter mates were sold and i was told it had been in its kennel alone since 11 weeks. My heart bleed for this pup it was craveing attention and quite wild it poo was all loose and its coat stank.
It just cannot be right how can they get away with it this day and age.People were walking round and looking at pups like it was a day out or it was a free zoo for the kids.

That is where the majority of our breeds rescues come from! We have had 3 in recently that people have got tired of, and the thing is when they are registered with their own Registry, we don't even know to look out for potential problems like we did when the puppy producer that supplies them still registered through the KC.

Due to proving that the puppy producer was selling wholesale The Breed Club got the KC to stop registering, all that happened was they registered the Pups with this shops registry. They then changed the ownership of the bitch, and started registering some of the litters with KC again. This poor bitch was being bred on successive seasons, when they were KC registered, and then therew was a 2 year gap, and more KC pups in new ownership, but turns out she had continued to have puppies in the intervening period! :(

Kay, you have hit the nail fair and square on the head there!

And its exactly the same with Rescue 'Centres'. High days and holidays, the phone would ring constantly with requests "Are you open today.....we are thinking of getting a GSP and thought we might visit your Rescue Centre."

dear heelerkay I would be very interested in seeing this add, breeder in Ireland looking for someone to sell their pups . actually as Sierra would say a puppy raiser , not a breeder .If you can tell me the details I will complain to K.C. and also make it public .I am most interested in uncovering this practise every little helps . mari

The source of Elkhounds that the Manchester one gets is in Northern Ireland, I would imagine they must get other pups from the same area, as it wouldn't be worth their while for such a relatively small number of our breed.

Oh Mari. the Manchester Pet Shop gets the weim pups from a Mr Wright. The Sire is Eccleston Tinker and the dam is Spriteley Pip. These pups are KC registered and some are DL registered. Mr D Wright also lives in the Manchester area...
