Hi i apologise before hand if this question sounds stupid or unanswerable!I posted a question recently on the behaviour board and was asked what i knew about our rescue pup(breed origin?) we were told she is a Westie cross? she looks very much like a Westie and is often taken for one ,but her coat is more blonde than white very soft and slightly wavy as opposed to white and wiry when laid down her ears stick up like a westy!once up on her feet they roll over ,(unless being spoken to ,then they take on a life of their own (my sister says they look like Angel Wings ...LOL..SOOO CUTE!she has short legs, long curled over tail, and stands approx 17" high, and apparently her coat was almost touching the ground whenshe arrived at the Rescue home, the question did get us thinking ,when you have a pedigree you have a rough idea what you are in for ,with a cross breed ,its a bit of a lottery ,one i like i have to admit, you get your very own unique little bundle of energy , i wish i could have put her photo for you to see ,i have even called up ..AtoZ ..of dogs, still not sure though,............any ideas??Thanks Sue T.

From what you say, Westie wouldn't be top of my list of possibles! Is the 17" measured at her shoulder? With a long coat and a tail curled over her back?
I doubt if you'll ever know what she has in her, which is only a problem inasmuch as you won't know what breed characteristics she may have inherited. So you must go in with an open mind!!
She does sound cute, though!

Hi Jeangenie, well that was fun Amy and i trying to measure her at the shoulder,it was such a good excuse for a tummy tickle!!she is approx 11"at the shoulder,it doesnt matter at all what she has in her gene pool, they told me she was westie pedigree , i offered them my glasses!!!!! then the vet said Lhasa Apso!, he WAS wearing glasses!!!!!!!third guess was Cairn Terrier no i dont think so , i think you are right ,i dont think we will ever know what she is,its just its the first thing i am asked, after they ask if she is a westie! thanks for your help anyway Regards SueT.

Hello,
from your description of her tail and coat, she does sound as if she may have some Lhasa Apso in her. I have a Lhasa, and her tail does exactly as you describe, and the coat sounds almost the same. Maybe half Westie half Lhasa?? She sounds adorable whatever she is, and very unique!!!

hi
my nan has a westie/lhaso cross, he is biscuitand cream in colour, with a long coat, sometimes prick ears, and a westie tail, he is s funny thing he presents his bone to you but then growls if you try to take it, but if you do take it hell let you play fetch with it, hes just confused, i suppose he doesnt know whether he is supposed too sit and look pretty like a lhaso or do terrier stuff like a westie.

Hi all, i think The Lhasa Apso is probably the best guess, the girl at the rescue home who tended to her when she was first taken there and has spent many years with dogs& has ,also spoken to the ex owners, says that this is what she is, as i said to us she is our little mystery, and that makes her unique, its just good to be able to pinpoint certain traits ,she also has a noticably long body !the westie is much more square ,what about the Lhasa Apso?, we are going to let her coat grow for a while and see what happens ,thanks for your help ,the little Westie x Lhasa made me laugh! CIAO xx Sue
