We had our dog castrated 6 weeks ago and now our bitch has come into season. To our surprise our dog is very interested in our bitch's flirtations and has mounted her a couple of times but then loses interest, dismounts. stretches and yawns! However I'm now worried that he could make her pregnant (which we do not want to happen) as I've read on the internet that he could still successfully mate up to around 3 months after castration.
Does anyone have any advice or experience of this sort of situation?

I doubt he could make her pregnant, as any sperm would have died by now, and of course with noe factory to make more :D He may well mate her, as castrated males can get egged on enough to perform, they just generally aren't as interested.

it like in humans the sperm still a live up to 6 months,at why males have spem test count up to six month after vastomary??? donot thing this how you spell it.

I don't think that can be as after all a man does not have his testes removed,just the tube linking the oarts cut, so that spem cannot travel, but everything else is still there including the stored sperm. with castration they are removed, so I can't see where sperm could be stored. Come on any vet who can answer this??

Not sure if it is the same but when i had my male pony gelded i was advised that he could still do the business for at least a month after the op so i had to keep him away from my mare

my castrated boy can and will still mount, mate and tie with a bitch, if she is willing!

I panicked teh first time, because it was just three days after he had been done, and i suspect could have been a bit risky, but now i dont (i do however try to prevent it from happening though!)
