Hi Gerard,

If you do a search on coprophagia, a lot of past topics on this subject will come up. Have you ever scolded him when you see him do it? It is thought that one reason that they eat it is due to the fact that they dont want you to see it and as such are attempting to hide it from you. Im afraid that you will just have to get there quicker than he does and clean it up as many dogs will forget about this habit in time. Alternatively you can try putting garlic or pineapple in his food. This is supposed to make the faeces smell (and taste) uninviting and hence prevent him from eating them.

Hi Gerard
My dog started doing this when he was a puppy - as the previous poster has said it's something some dogs do to clear up after themselves, you just have to get there first !

If my dog (now 6 years old) has an 'accident' indoors during the night he will still do this - a few minutes later he sicks it all up which is doubly disgusting, believe me ! Outside he is fine, just sniffs it and walks away.

It's when people start talking "poop" that we all need to start worrying, if you get what i mean!!!
