my puppy is consistently pooping and peeing all over my house. a friend of mine suggested that i stop cleaning it up since puppies do not like to poop where they have pooped before....plus, if you clean it up, the puppy likes it. after reading some of the posts on this forum it seems like this is bad advice (plus the fact that i now have about 20 poops all over my house). what should i do? i have hardwood floors so i am not in a real hurry to remove them if they are indeed helping, but i don't think they are. any help is appreciated.

Hi Gerard,
Your adviser seems a little confused - dogs are actually
more likely to toilet where they have been before! The more mess you leave, the more the pup will think that's the right place to go! Besides, it's unhealthy and unhygeinic for all of you - and your house must stink!
Clear it all up, and give the floors a good wash over with a solution of biological washing powder, which will destroy the underlying smell which is what attracts the pup to use the same place again.
Then start some proper housetraining, taking the pup outside at least once an hour, and of course every time he wakes, after his meals, after games, first thing in the morning and last thing at night.
And take what your friend says with a huge pinch of salt!!

Hi,
I would clean them up quickly before the pup treads in them and all over the house(that's what mine does before i have a chance to clean up).Use a week dilute of bio washing powder on your floors and leave the door open so he can get out, hope this helps,

I cannot believe this is a geuine post and if it is then I dont think you should even be allowed to have a dog !!!! :(
I cannot believe any one could be so stupid.

Thought twice about replying, maybe I should have thought again. but gerald did come for advice his intelligence told him that this might not be the right approach,he did put very much a novice. He did ask for help.

Sorry lel just seen post on Staffy puppy bitting, and response by same person, should have kept my mouth shut yet again

Hi i am pretty new at this too ,it was my post "Insecure pup" this guy answered to, "YANKING" on a six month old pups lead to show her whos boss !! seemed a bit much for me ,somehow the whole post sounded odd , thats the sort of handling my pup had been subjected to before we got her , we are trying to find a happy medium, and as for poop all over the house !! i am taking advice given to me here ,and if she has an accident i dont even have to shout ,she knows she has done wrong and were getting there slowly but surely, guess there are those that give good advice and those that.....dont !! i know the ones i look to for constructive help/criticism,already ,sorry Gerard your not one of them!

Gerard,
Maybe if you treat your dog in the same way you claim to treat your neighbours (see Border Terrier biting) then your dog is messing itself through fear.
I agree, if indeed Gerards posts are genuine and he is not a troll, (although I suspect he is a troll aged about 10) this may well be the case.
