Does anyone know of any staffordshire bull terrier stud dogs available in the scottish area?
- By cleopatra [gb] Date 03.06.03 07:02 UTC
Hi Davie,

Plenty! What lines are your bitch? Has she been tested clear for PHPV and HC?

Drop me a mail at alex.lazarus@harcourteducation.co.uk and i try to help you find a suitable stud.

Thanks for your quick response Alex.
My bitch's bloodlines are as follows
Bitch's gt. gt.garandparents are from the rellim, judael and eastaff kennels
sire's gt.grandparents are from the scylax kennels although ch. teutonic warrior is mentioned a couple of times as her gt. gt. grandfather.
Yes she has been tested all clear.

Welcome to the forum Davie :-) Have you spoken to your bitches breeder? She should know her lines and be able to recommend bloodlines that would compliment your bitch and also lines to avoid!

Hi Davie
If from the 5th generation there are no particular lines to follow then you have three options.
You could either pick up on one of the lines back on the 5th generation by using a dog closely line bred within that line, or chose a dog that may have lines matching several of the lines back or if from the 5th gen no lines go for an outcross mating choosing the stud dog on his type and temperment rather than his pedigree.
Any stud dog chosen should compliment your bitch, if there are any areas on your bitch that you would like to improve, for example stronger head or shorter muzzle choose a dog which has these qualities. That way hopefully some of the pups will follow dad, some mom and some inbetween without getting too complicated with genetics. :-).
Let us know what you decide.
By the way what colour is your bitch and what colour male would you like. I am guessing from what you have said she is a black brindle but then that would depend on what dogs are on her recent generations. :-)

Hi Davie,

I know of a couple of nice dogs who double up one side of your pedigree - can you send me her ped? Is she pet breeding between her and her grandparents? Which of the lines do you want her to go back into? And i will contact them for you. Any pics of her, jus out of interest - she is similar to my boys breeding. Do you show at all?

Hi
Firstly sorry about the delay in the reply.
My bitch is not pet breeding and I am open as to which lines I would go back into with her.
At the moment I am just trying to establish as to what her pervious kennels have to offer in the way of stud dogs.
My bitch is black with a little brindle.
I am not showing her at present, however I attended my first Champion show on the 18th May this year and I am very intrested in showing her.
No pics at the moment (not very good with computers) but will send you a copy of her pedigree alex.

ps does anyone know of any staffy pups for sale in the scottish region as I know of someone who is looking for any type of pup. Colour - no preferrence.

Thanks
Davie

Hi Davie,

My suggestion is the same as admin :) try talking to the bitches breeder especially as she is not pet lines, he/she should have a few good suggestions for possible stud dogs.

I know if I ever decided to have a litter from my Stafford bitch (she's just a pup now) her breeder would be the first person I would contact. But the decision would be mine.

Just a thought.

Hi Davie,

Not that i am aware of, but the company can get a bit techy about receiving exe or similiar files. Try sending it to my home address alexl@onetel.net.uk. Who is the breeder by the way? and how old is she? - the dog i mean :p!

Look forward to receiving it,

Alex

Hi

The breeder was a Mrs Partridge from Wishaw however I am unable to contact her now. My girl (Keira) was a year old in May.

Let me know alex if you received the pedigree.

Hi Davie,

Was away at the weekend, but have a large file to downl;oad from my mail so i guess that's it.

Can i ask why you want to breed your girl? And when you were thinking of breedig her?

Alex

Hi alex

I was thinking of breeding her on her third cycle which should be about Feb 04.
As to why I was thinking of breeding her? I owned a staffordshire bull terrier bitch for 14 1/2 years and have been intrested in breeding since then, however circumstances dictated that this was not going to happen with my bitch due to health reasons and personnal circumstances.
These circumstances have now changed and I am able to devote the time required to raise a litter of pups. I also have 6 members of my friends and family who are mad about my dog and have also owned staffordshire bull terriers before, who are looking for staffordshire pups.
I would also like to own maybe another 2 or 3 dogs and hopefully be able to show them.

Hope this answers your questions and hope to hear from you soon.

Any stud will not do, why not ask the bitches breeder for suggestions as to what would be suitable, you can then ask the owners of the studs to send you the pedigree so you can also check for yourself.
