Topic Dog Boards / Health / Mangled pads

I left my lab at a doggy day care for the weekend - it was a new place we'd never tried before, and I've just picked him up and his pads are terrible -- they have concrete floors and I guess he "played too hard" and now there's pieces of pad skin hanging off, and he doesn't want me touching them at all. I'm furious - both at the place and at myself. They're not bleeding, but I think I need to take him to the vet anyway tomorrow. My question: should I leave them uncovered until them, or should I wrap them up? He has a cone collar around his head so he can't lick them (poor, poor guy -- it's all four).

Leave sore pads open to the air to dry. If you cover tham they'll get infected and that will be a bu**er to cure.

What about when I take him for walks? I'm going to try and keep it so he only walks on the grass, but should I clean them with hydrogen peroxide when we come in?

sounds like hes been having too good a time racing about! I wouldnt worry, my bitch gets like this sometimes when we go lamping....sometimes her feet get abraised because she has cornered too hard on a stony bit of field. They will soon heal but I wouldnt go for walks on tarmac, gravel or concrete for a week, just try to stick to grass
