Hi
Can anyone advise me on which brush & comb to buy for my Bichon Frise pup, I am due to pick her up in 2 weeks & I am trying to get everything ready, I would like to introduce her to grooming asap, there are so many to choose from but dont want to buy the wrong things. Cheers Pauline.

Hi Pauline,
I would advise a mediun sized soft slicker brush, a make called Lawrence is a good one.You don't want anything too harsh. And a wide to medium toothed metal comb. Hope this helps

we have got a rotating metal pin comb to go right to the skin of our dogs it works a treat at getting through the knots without pulling too much.also a slicker for fluffing back the furnishings

Hi Mel
Thanks for the comment, can you get the rotating metal brush at most pet stores or does it need ordering? What breed have you got? Regards Pauline

i have a mini schnauzer and a kerry blue,i actually got my comb from a garden centre that has started doing pet supplies,it was £2.99,i have seen them in pets at home and other large pet stores or online stores but they tend to be around £5 and upwards.
as i say they really get through knots, but my kerry pup screams at everything at the moment including combing,so i am having to tickle his chin whilst trying to get through him as quick as possible.

Hi Mel
That must be like rubbing your tummy whilst patting your head! I will look out for the rotating brush. Thanks Pauline.

on no pauline,
rubbing and patting are so much easier.i took him to my friend who grooms and he only growled once the little so and so.but i think we a break through on a different front, ther have been NO accidents at all in the house today.boscoe went from midnight till 7.30am with nothing on the floor.

Hi Mel
should I say congratulations on a good nights sleep. How old is Boscoe? I bet you were in and out like a yoyo to prevent accidents or is Boscoe going to the door himself? Well only 1 week left to go for me. are you using a crate, any tips, what did you do on the first few days? its question-question at first isnt it. Regards Pauline.

We pick kujoe up last week he is a 9 week old Dogue de Bordeaux, he has not settled at night and barks and howls, but I have been determined not to give in to him and keep going down, tonight it is 1.07 a.m. he has not barked and howled now I am paraniod that there is something wrong with him and have been up and down since 10.00p.m.Do not seem to be able to win.

sorry about the delay pauline only just seen your message.
we did try a crate but boscoe screamed so much i couldnt stand it.zak was 5 months when we got him,but he still needed toilet training,we used a hit and miss method. zak has never had a crate either.boscoe has started to go to the door a bit more,we have a few accidents still, but i would rather clean up in the morning than get up through the night.we put both dogs out just before we go to bed,no matter what time it is,even if they have already gone to bed.
lots of praise and maybe a little treat, use the same keyword ours is go wee,
got to go
