Are you aware of any groups who are seeking to ban or restrict the awful effects of fireworks (particularly noise) on dogs, other domestic and wild animals (not forgetting zoo animals)?

When you consider the number of animals affected and increasing amount of time that we have to put up with this, it makes the issue of foxhunting really pale into insignificance.

We have a Beardie and a Bichon and they are utterly terrified.

Fireworks bill

Last Friday, after nearly five hours of debate in the House of Commons, the Fireworks Bill passed its third reading. This means it now progresses to the House of Lords.

There is no doubt that the massive number of letters and e-mails received by MPs helped to make this issue a priority on the political agenda, so many thanks to everyone who contacted their MP.

Our efforts will now be focused on getting the bill through the House of Lords, after which it will return to the House of Commons when MPs will consider any amendments proposed by the Lords.

In preparation for the bill's return to the House of Commons and to demonstrate to MPs the strength of public feeling on this issue, we are doing one final push on collecting signatures for our petition.
