I have a litter of six four week old puppies. At 3 days one of the puppies developed a very wet bottom and tale. I took her to the vet and they x-rayed her. They said she was dehydrated, her wee was very diluted, she was very lathargic and basicaly dieing. They thought her kidneys might not be working and wanted to put her to sleep. I was really upset, but she was in no pain so I refused. They kept her in for a few hours and put a lot of fluid under her skin and she started to pick up, she was given a 40 percent chance of living, but with a lot of TLC she's made it through and is doing well, she's a bit smaller than the rest of the litter, but she's a little fighter and putting on weight and now her wee is normal. She's on Synulox and has been for most of her life however although she wees like the other puppies she still leaks a little bit. She's going to have some blood tests to check her kidneys at 6 weeks.
Poor little girl, I'm worried about her and wondered if anybody has had, or heard of a similar experience with a puppy. The vets don't really know what is wrong with her and because she is so small are limited in the tests that they can do. She is such a lovely little thing and has faught so hard to live, I really want to find out what is making her leak.
Many thanks
