I have a 6 month old, english mastiff dog,in the last couple of weeks i have noticed that he is very stiff on his back legs, i have taken him to see the vet, and he has checked his joints,these seems to be fine, he has put him on a coarse of tablets,RIMADYL 50mg (twice daily for 5 days) just to see if there are any underlaying problems. My vet admits he has a limit knowledge of this breed.but knows that this type of breed can have hip or joint problems.i asked my vet if it could just be where he is just growing so fast,i mean one min he's all legs then all body,and vice versa, it seems to be worse when he's been asleep for a few hours, but not all the time, as he sleeps 90% of the time.
I was wondering if any other mastiff owners or breeders have had this type of problem.
Even though this is my first mastiff , i was very careful in my selection, both the shire and dam had been checked by a vet for any hip or joint problems,including x-rays.( Both were clear. )
