Topic Dog Boards / General / cage for small car
- By sarahl [gb] Date 12.06.03 07:58 UTC
And when I say small, I mean a Peugeot 106. I have 2 beagles who, at the moment, go quite comfortably in the back of my car. But I would prefer to put them in a cage, if there is one small enough to fit. I could then leave them occassionally with the boot open.

Any info on where I may get one - price?

Thanks.

hi sarah ive also got a 106 and asked in a pet store about cages and they say no chance due to the curvature of the rear seat. so im going to get a harness which attatches to the seatbelt.

You can get a single door one here .

Also try contacting Lintran - they make cages for small hatchbacks and can customise to order.

will you be with them if you leave the boot open?

Usually yes. But sometimes just close by, although I would be worried about people trying to take them unless I could somehow fix the cage onto the car. Last weekend I was at an agility competition with them and this would not have been a problem to leave them in the boot as the car park was right next to the field and in a really quiet location. What are your views/suggestions?

Several companies do made to measure cages and back door guards which padlock. My friends had a set of dividers made for a Corsq (pretty small) which consisted of a guard to stop the dogs jumping over into the front seats (back seat folded down, but it could aslo go in with back seat up) and then one with a door(which can be padlocked) . A local guy made them (and has just done a new set as they have upgraded to an Astra Estate). They also got a special lock which fits between the latch on the hatch and the floor, so the boot can be secured but open for airflow. All these things are available from various suppliers who advertise in the back of dog mags.
bye
