I have a 3 year old bulldog which over the last 6-8 months has started to get agreesive.
We have been to a psychologist who says he is afraid of people as he had him at 12 weeks and as he has now matured so that is why it has only now started.
We have moved recently 6 months to a large house in the countryside so the dog has the run of 30 acres so there may be something in that.
The problem has occured twice with the same person twice in a week its a girl who liveries on our horse yard we have about 10 such girls and he has never had a go at anyone else. I had thought of muzzleing him but from these boards it seems a bad idea we have also gated the horse yard so he is limited to this not the 30 acres. Can anyone recommend anyhting to try ?

Hi Rich
I too have had this problem recently. I have two bulldogs, two girls, the oldest of which is called Hilda. She was a rescue bully, well I say rescue but we still payed for her, we rescued her from a puppy farm at just over a year old, she is now approaching three and a couple of months back she nipped someone for no apparent reason whatsoever. She has always been the most placid loveable dog ever.
I came onto this board for advice and they advised me to take her to the vets - have you tried this - as they could be something medically wrong - there wasn-t with mine.
Anyway I then went onto a bulldog website, if you email me privately I will give you the address and they said that it was because of her being a rescue that she had done it, because she now realised what she had in life and was trying to protect eveything and everyone to prevent her form losing it, I don-t know how true this is but they gave me some rules to follow and they appear to have worked e.g. when someone comes to the house put a lead on her etc etc. Hilda has also been very timid, she is frightened of alot of things and I also feel that this contributed.

Hi Jolene
I did read your post with some interest it does seem similar and makes some sense with the protecting things as he has a great place to live on a farm with 30 acres to run around in. He has been to the vets and a behaviour specialist so there is no probs there but I will pm you for the address as we will try anything. The problem I do have is we live on a farm with 12 Horse liveries and a 10 bedroom guest house. He is gated from the guests so has no access to them as he did run at one so we made sure this could never happen again by gating the horse yard and marking it private beware of the dog. We do however have the liveries which have to come past the gate to see their horses but we have never had a problem with them as they all get on fine. Then all of a sudden he went for one of them about 2 weeks back and then the same one today in not really similar circumstances.
