Can anyone give me advice on how to paper train my TWO nine week old Rottie x puppy's. Im having a total nightmare. As soon as one of them wees on the carpet I say No and lift him onto paper, however, they wont finish having a wee on the paper and think its a great game. I would take them outside but they havent had their second jabs yet and ive got two more weeks to go.....HELP ME my house smells constantly of detol and fabreeze!!

Two pups at a time is a total nightmare! I've done it, and I know it takes much much longer to train each of them than if there was just one. There's no way one person can concentrate properly on two pups at a time. So you do have my sympathy! Was there a particular reason why you have two - my excuse is that they were homebred and not all the pups sold, so I was left 'holding the baby' as it were. I'd never do it by choice!

If your garden is private and secure I would say take them outside - I always do with mine and have had no problems. You won't manage to paper train them in two weeks, and then you'll have to start un-training them from the paper and training them to go outside.....they'll get very confused and you'll go bonkers.

Clean the spots they've weed on with a solution of biological washing powder, or one of the proprietory 'scent removers' you can buy in pet shops. Then they'll be less tempted to wee in the same place again.

Good luck.

Thanks Jeangenie,

I was beginning to think it was just me being a bad mother!! I bought two because I lost both my Rotties within two weeks of eachother and I know how much they loved eachother and got on. I just didnt have this problem with the last two....or maybe I did and have just blanked it out!!

Thanks for the cleaning tips anything has got to be better than detol!

I will start to take them outside then if you've had no problems with yours.

Thanks again

Hi,
I have a 13 week old pup.My breeder told me to leave the back door open and after just a few days my pup knew to go outside and we had very few accidents. It's been a couple of weeks now with no accidents night and day(touch wood). If they have access to get outside they will be much more likely to go where they are suposed to.The washing powder solution is great too!
