is there a short haired golden retriever or only long haired goldens.or are yellow labs the closest to short haired golden retrievers

goldies and labs are both retrievers but 2 seperate breeds, retrievers are long coated whereas labs short coated. i have no experience of goldies, but in spaniels you get the long and short coats the latter being more in the shooting field than the show ring, i have no idea if this is true of goldies though

I don't think that you can get a short haired golden retriever. If I'm wrong - no doubt someone will be along soon to correct me!! I have a golden and I've been to a few shows, purely as a spectator and I've never seen a short haired. Did you see one? perhaps it was a lab? The closest Baillie gets to being short haired is when he's been clipped!:)
