I tried Hills when Min first started with her collitis. It didn't really do a lot apart from make a dent in my bank balance ! :)
Changed over to JWB and found some improvement but chynaged to Nature diet Lite in the last few months and it has completely solved the problem !
My vet also has the science diet in the surgery but has asked for all the info on Nature diet as he is very imterested in this now due to the complete change in Mins condition. He is now considering recommending this now as an altenative to Hills as a diet for dogs with sensitive tummy problems.
PS I am not on commission for recommending Nature diet ! It has just worked miracles for me on MIN !

Thanks for that Lucy, I think we might give Nature diet a try - like you pointed out I also noticed how expensive Hills is!!
Cheers again!

I feed my 11 month old beagle on hills science diet. I think its well worth every penny. We had problems with upset tummies and problem anal glands on other foods but on this she seems fine. I must have tried half a dozen different foods. Also my dog doesn't like eating huge amounts of dried food. The Hills is more expensive but you don't give them as much as other foods.
I also have a labrador on the prescription diet. We nearly lost her as she had three operations for various toys that she'd eaten whole. After the operations she would eat but it was making her violently sick. The vet suggested we try the prescription diet and it worked like a miracle. She is now really healthy and well.
I am nearly ready to put my beagle on adult food and we are going to try the new Hills Natures Best. It is the dried complete food but it contains vegetables. The only thing you can do is try the food as i had other recommendations and they didn't work for my dog.

Found all the comments about Hills very interesting. Does anyone know whether a 10month old Labrador Retriever would be able to have Hills light (I believe there is one although I can't find out anything about it as yet). My adopted Labrador weighs in at 34kg and needs to lose a bit! Any information about Hills light would be so much appreciated. Thank you.

Hills have a good web site with all their products on. You may find your hills light on there. I think you can also get a list of people who stock it in your area.
Hope this helps, its www.hills.co.uk

Thank you so much for your reply. It's a really good website and very helpful. Looks like I need to wait until my Labrador is 1yr before trying her on the Hills lite.(2 months to go so in the meantime I will cut her food down a bit).
Some excellent info on that site. Many thanks again,
Best wishes,
Val :-)
