One bitch...major coat drop at the end of May....sitting on 1 CC...want the other 2 asap.....any suggestions as to get this coat in quicker?

She is on 1 Royal Jelly capsule, 1 Flax Oil capsule (1000mg) & 2 Kelp tablets a day, she's being fed Burns Active. I have started washing her in Quistel shampoo. Do I just have to be patient? Don't think I can be! :(

Snap! Mine is at the worst stage of post whelping coat loss, really looking a fright. I have her entered for Windsor, so she has 4 weeks to grow it back!!!! Mind you she just has the 1 RCC, and I somehow doubt she will go any higher.

I don't have patience either :D :D :d

Snap,
I'm glad I am not the only one..... my aussie bitch is entered at her first Champ Show (Blackpool) since last July and has no coat whatsoever....... she looks appalling. She is on ''fit and fertile'' and it has made no difference whatsoever........
So, if anyone has any tips for coat growth, I would LOVE to hear them :-D

I have an article taken from Australasian Gundog about getting your dog's coat into the absolute show conditioning, that's where I got the Flax Oil tip from as it says it has the highest amount of Omega 6 & 3 oils. It also advocates at least twice weekly washing, not brushing/combing a dirty coat, feeding a good quality kibbled food (Without beet in it...finding a complete without that is impossible) and so on, if you want the article in full let me know and I'll email it on...but I need my help now!!!!!

Can't help with coat, but think you'll find Nutro Choice Adult has no beet in it ........

Don't really know if this does any good or not but after my bitch blows her coat I give her 2 capsules of Evening Primrose Oil daily and before long it's back in, mind you she does have a short coat !

I will show her as everything else about Mia is in tip top condition, her muscletone is fab, lots of freerunning & swimming. I'm hoping all the swimming in a cold loch may help it to grow in quicker!!!

Flax Oil is seemingly better than EPO or Starflower oil.

I've tried the Evening Primrose before, but it didn't work and am really disappointed with ''Fit and Fertile''. I was so hoping that it would make a difference. I feed Arden Grange, because it has quite a high oil content in it, but that has made no difference...
She has lost a fair bit of weight as she always seems to do before her season, but her actual body condition is very good, she has an hour and a half free running a night and swimming when I can fit it in, so she is healthy. Just hope the judge is the type that will judge her for her movement rather than her looks !!!!!!!!! :-)
Where do I get Flax Oil from, and how much of it would I feed??

Hi Gabrielle,

I got my Flax Oil from Holland & Barratt who are having a buy 1 get one free promotion on their jars of Flax Oil capsules. The show conditioning article recommends 8 tablespoons daily! (I can see 1 very upset stomach on this), well the one's I bought come in capsule form (1000mg) and I give 1 a day, even for humans it states a max. of 2 a day.

If you send me your email address I will scan the article through to you. Just think if our dogs are out of coat at the moment, everyone elses will eventually follow suit and our dogs will be the first ones to be back in coat!!!!!!! :D Well that's me trying to be postive but I'm glad I'm not the only one in this predicament.

Thanks for that, I will read the article with interest and get some capsules at weekend. Probably too late for a miracle for Blackpool, but we might have a fighting chance of getting a little bit of coat back before South Wales !!!!!!!! :-D Then maybe everyone elses coat may have fell out, and my bitch will look stunning !!!! (here's hoping) :-)
E-mail address is KJSHEPHERDS@aol.com
Thanks,

I was advised by a very old lab person that had bred champions in the breed to put cooking oil or vegatable/sunflower etc in the dogs meal say two tablespoons several times a week it would help the coat also any fat of grilling bacon etc poor the fat on the food ive always done this with my dogs .

I have alway's given mine tuna in sunflower oil a couple of times a week and mix it with brown rice, they woof it down, and we never seem to get any skin or coat problems , it works for mine but all dogs are individual.
