Is it to late to give Rasberry tea if my dog is 56 days?
- By Holly A [gb] Date 02.06.03 21:39 UTC
I'm not sure, as I don't breed. But as it's herbal I don't think it could hurt!
But don't take my word for it! Wait for someone with experience!
Luv Holly

I gave my bitch Raspberry leaf tablets for the last 3 weeks of her pregnancy. It seemed to do some good as she free whelped a litter of 9 5 weeks ago.You can still give her the Raspberry leaf even this far on as it helps with milk production.
Hope this helps.

Dorwest Foods in the UK sell it for Dogs and cats, www.dorwest.com or I use Holland and Barrett :-) in capsule form, never had any problems with my girls just taking them from my hand

Lizzy,I gave my bitch the Raspberryleaf tablets. You can get them at health food stores or at pharmacies that sell vitamins etc.,I'm in Australia,so I don't know what brands of vitamins that are available to you.
Let me know if you have any luck.

I want to make it clear that there is a big difference between Red Raspberry Leaves Capsules and Raspberry Tea Leaves.

:D Do give RED RASPBERRY LEAVES CAPSULES!!!

:( DO NOT give RASPBERRY TEA LEAVES.

There is a difference. People have mentioned to go to a health food store to get this product. Here in Canada that is where we purchase this product. Please ensure you read the label so that it is Red Raspberry Leaves capsules you are getting. If you have to buy a loose form be extra specially vigilant of the product name you are buying. The two items listed above are not the same. It is important that you get the right one.

My girlfriend gives this item from the last date of mating right up to whelping with no adverse problems. I can't stress enough that it is So important that you give Red Raspberry Leaves only.

hi i cannot get red raspberry leaf capsules were i live in Great Britain but only raspberryleaf in tablets or capsule form.So i am getting some capsules.

To be honest I have never heard of "Red Raspberry Leaf", whether tea, tablets or capsules!

If you stick with the ones that are designed for dogs (Denes, for example, though I expect there are others) you won't go wrong.
:)

It is much better to get the capsules.

It would be a whole lot easier if you could get the capsules for the Red Raspberry Tea. You just drop them in your dog's food and down it goes as the meal is consumed. If you feed dry kibble then get a little bit of canned food and put the capsule in a tablespoon of this. No measuring! No mess! One, once a day until the bitch goes into whelp. Quite often they eat very little that last few hours before delivery starts.

Hi all, just wanted to ask how raspberry leaf tablets can help pregnant bitches. i know pregnant women can take them to help with labour and to soften cervix, is it the same for dogs? i know this question may seem a little silly but I am new to all this and just want to learn as much as poss. thanx. Louise.

When you give raspberry leaves throughout the pregnancy they aid at the time the bitch goes into labour. She will usually have an easier labour prior to the birth of the first puppy and then the contractions seem to sustain themselves strongly to birth all puppies in the horns of the uterus. I'm not saying that you must not be vigilant that all placenta's accompany each puppy or other problems could arise. It is a good idea to write down the birth time of each pup born so if the time drags out to an excessive amount of time between pups, you can contact your veterinarian. In my breed, Wire Fox Terriers, I would get concerned if one puppy was born and then another was not born for 45 - 90 minutes. Usually with giving the bitch raspberry leaves through the pregnancy from the last day of breeding to the day she starts to whelp this is not a concern.

The only thing I must caution you about is ensure that you buy raspberry leaves not raspberry TEA leaves. They are two quite totally different things. Don't ever give the second.
