Topic Dog Boards / General / Training - "Come" & "Down"

I've been doing a bit of training with the "Piddles" today - really quite funny!

Vinnie Piddle is getting the hang of walking to heel nicely - very occasionally I get my arm yanked as she wants to follow Aunty Purdey on a gentle bunny chase - Purdey (13) gets up a few steps gallop after the baby bunnies - then lets them race away from her - but today, we had a different angle (literally!). We were going along, quite nicely - heel, good girl - heel - yank back - good girl etc when all of a sudden - she pulled my arm UPWARDS!!! As it has been slightly rainy today, the insects are low to the grass and the swallows are flying low - Vinnie decided to jump for one!!! Fortunately, she didnt get it - and I'll be on my guard looking for low-flying swallows as well as bunnies tomorrow morning!

This evening, it was Beau Piddley's turn for some off the lead training - he is very good at recall, and will come charging back at a call & signal. I've tried to put a "down" in now - but he's got it wrong - he comes charging back like a rocket, then launches himself into the air to try & bring ME down!!! - I'm learning to sidestep instead :-)!

Oh well - the fun of puppies!

PS They're not quite so much the Piddles now, either :D!
