I know there are many folk who read this board who take an active part in the organisation and running of KC approved shows. I want to find out if there is a definitive directory or any other source of information as regards the rules and regulations of committees, I dont mean just dog show committees. Basically things like minimum percentage of committee to make a quorum, whether non-committee members can be present in meetings, voting procedures etc.
I have heard of a document that details these points but do not know what it is called and whether it is written simply enough that mere dog exhibitors can understand it.

The Kennel Club Year Book lists guidelines and various Rules and Reg's :-) Things such as committee quorum's etc will be laid out in the various 'clubs' own constitution and have to be KC approved. Are you setting up a club LD? You can get various flyers from the KC on all matter of things.

Think clubs formulate their own rules and regs. which are then approved by the KC. If it is a particular club you are interested in ask them for a copy of the rules, I am not sure if you have the right to do this if you are not a member but can see know reason for the club to refuse any reasonable request. If you don't understand anything better ask Sierra.

Every member of any club should have been furnished with a copy of the clubs constitution (rules and regs) and code of ethics when they join. The KC issue guidelines for these :-) Leigh
Its just a query on points not covered specifically in the clubs rules and regulations. I have been informed from a couple of sources that there is a document/booklet/book NOT a KC publication but covering committees in general as to the rules behind the constitution, particularly covering, as I say, points not in the clubs rules and regulations.
As an example Non-committee members attending meetings. If there is no mention in the rules is it accepted that it is OK or that it is not allowed.
Another example is Abstentions if the voting is tied does an abstention count? If so does it count FOR or AGAINST the motion?
What about Proxy votes? If no mention are they allowed or not?

Hi Longdog
I know your last post was some time ago but I am on a similar quest - trying to find a document detailing the protocols of the running of a committee.
Did you ever find the document you were seeking and if so could you please point me in the right direct.
If so a brief e-mail to P5rover@hotmail.com would be appreciated.
Kind regards
Alan

There is a book published the name of which escapes me at the moment but we used it when we set up our agility club committee covers protocols etc. Somebody's Committee Regulations or similar
