I have a 9 month old Havanese puppy with a late descending testicle. It is approximately 50% the size of the other. What are the chances that this testicle will develop to its normal size by a year old? It was retained in the inguinal area, not the abdomen. Will growth hormone shots have any effect? Please share your experiences as our vet has limited experience and feedback. We wish to show this dog. Does a late descending testicle ruin his chance of being a good breeding prospect?

The smaller testicle will probably not get as big as it should, however this does not mean that he will not be fertile. But it might be a good idea to find out if there is a problem with undescended testicles in the bloodlines. It is a genetic problem and if it is in you dogs family history it is not a good idea to pass this problem on in further generations.
