A Lady told me the other day that she had wonderful success with Extract of Geen Lipped Muscle for joint problems,I wonder if anyone else has used it with success

My sister used it on her Newfoundlands, as far as I could see it made no difference to the dogs although it did make a difference to her bank account. Have not asked her opinion, she may think differently, but she has stopped using it. JH

I was given green lipped muscle extract for Winston as he has bad hips but found no improvement, however, I put him on Devils Claw and that has really made a difference.

I have given it to my 13 yr old Dandie Dinmont for about three years after she started getting a bit stiff particulary in one shoulder. I am not a big fan of unresearched 'alternative' medicine and I accepted that her apparent improvement may have been a placebo effect from me expecting more of her, however this time last year I ran out and what with Christmas and everthing else she went 3 weeks without it. One morning I was shocked to find she could not get out of bed without me lifting her! After a few days back on them she was back to normal, she only enjoys short walks these days but she still breaks into a sprint now and again.

I buy Seetone which are meant for up to 5 a day for a human, I give her one a day so a £11 ish bottle lasts nearly 4 months so not expensive for a small dog and I am now sure she would not be alive today without them as she has always had a delicate digestive system so I very much doubt she would not have managed anti-inflamitories long term.

So thats my experience, judging from what others say I think you just have to try and see for yourself.

Many thanks Ive put 'William' my eleven year old Lab on it to try Im using Woods, its should be £12.99 for a 100 and is currently £5.18 he has been on 4 plts a day so thought an alternative may help at the moment he is still on the pLTs may try to knock one off at a time anyway will let you know his progress.

Hi Isabel, PLTs are Predna Leucotrepin (tablets) which the Vet has prescribed for William he has very bad arthritis,The Extract of Green Lipped Muscle is available from Health Shops,as with any alternative theraphy unknown to me I was interested to know if others had tried it with success,I must say that William seems to have improved whilst taking them.
I have a contact number for Woods which is the wholesaler I will email it to you if you want and they provide a free booklet on their products.

Yes please Mattie that would be very useful, although if Woods is also made for humans I may as well stick with Seetones which is the only one I have seen in our local Holland and Barrett. More information would be useful too as the only thing I worry about is the possibility of giving too much vitamins and that information is not on the Seetone box. With it being fish derived I am slightly worried about the vitamin A content but I suppose as it is an extract it will probably be very slight.
