A little advice required please.
I'm a little worried about my Great Dane bitch. Her teets have dropped, as if she is pregnant, and they feel very warm. She has gone off her food too ... hasn't eaten a thing today. I have noticed the teets dropping over the past week.
A little more info about her. She is 4.5 years old (going on 45), entire, never took on matings previously. And is never likely to get mated now.
Are these signs/symptoms of a pyometra. Or am I worrying unduly.
Any advice duly welcome. Thankyou
Pete

If you suspect pyometra my advice is get her checked by a vet. Is her temp higher than normal? Or could she be having a phantom, when was she last in season ? Or it could be mastitus ( never cold spell that word !) If you are worried a trip to vet could put your mind at rest and hopefully it won't be anything serious. Sorry can't be more helpful
Margaret

Hi, is that Charlie ???
As Margaret says, when she last had a season is fairly vital, also if she's drinking excessively.

Logged in now and can see your details, yes it is you .....
Have you taken her temp? If you aren't used to doing it and want me to pop round, give me a shout.

Thanks both for your replys.
Her last season was back in February/March. So should be long past the phantom stage. Which she's had before. Mind you her half brother seemed very interested for about a month after her season had ended.
BTW - She finally ate something this morning - took 10 minutes of coaxing, and pretending the dog food was mine.
M - If you would put round would be most appreciated. - I should be in tonight and tomorrow day.
