Have you tried him on a weaning food first before trying the meat ? Perhaps the meat is too big a step for him. Is he with his mum all the time ? Is she was to leave him him perhaps you could then try some weaning food after he has been asleep and wakens, but before mum goes in.

Hi why are you trying to wean your pup if you only have one let it stay with mum and she will do it for you and if you feed mum so that pup can see her eating and it can smell the food it will start to eat when ready to do so it is a tiny breed dont force it let mum do her job best of luck Jackie

I would agree. The bitch should be on the same type of food as pup will need, and if it is put down ofr her, once the milk is no longer enough or she decides to stop letting him feed so often he will eat.
I breastfed my son to 14 months, after only intending to do it to six months:D
He is now 12 and definately independent, and often makes his own food!
