Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / wire fox terrier stripping

I have a 5 month old wire fox terrier and would like to hand strip him. I have been told that I have to get chalk or powder to enable me to do this. I have tried to get this but to no avail. Could someone point me in the right direction.

Hi, Chemists will supply it in a small tub and if they dont have it in stock, will usually have it the next day. It costs about £5-£6, ask for Calcium Carbonate.
Rub it all over your dogs coat, outside preferably as they all shake like mad after wards, then get stripping. Hope this helps.

I use grooming chalk for my terriers. I usually pick it up at trade stands at dog shows, but I know that pet shops can order it, and if you live in a rural place & have a good agricultural merchants near by, they will often sell it in the summer for cattle exhibitors to use as a whitener for fresians etc.
