Hi everyone, hope someone can advise...
archie, my 15 wk mini dachs baby is 99% for wees now. He is paper trained as we live in an appartment and i know that paper training is not ideal but for wees it has been so easy to get him to go there.

problem is with number 2's - he absolutely will not go on the paper. he has only so once when we weren't there to praise unfortunately. the rest of the time he goes wherever the urge takes him which is usually right in the middle of the living room floor! (thank god for wooden floors).

when we catch him doing this we do all the right stuff, say no firmly (although i don't want to encourage him to hide away and do them, i'd rather have them where they can be found!), take him to paper etc but he simply won't go, he waits until a bit later to finish the job off.

i know with paper training you are really training them where to go rather than what on, but he only occaisionly poos in that area, usually it is in another room.
the only thing i can think of doing is to move the tray just outside the front door and start from scratch.

so if anyone has any ideas on why he doesn't want to poo where we want him to or recommendations as to how to proceed i'd be really grateful. apart from this (and his needle sharp baby teeth) he is the best little dog - really clever and quick to learn and very very good, although it is early days!

sorry this is long and garbled, i hope it makes sense...Lu

I don't know if this will help - but our pup would poo if she went into our lounge and dining room. To stop her, we just didn't let her go into those rooms until we were confident that she had learnt that she must not go there :)
