Hello All

Any suggestions on the best way of getting rid of nasty niffs on my concrete drive. With having 2 dogs one only 15 weeks, my back door is more or less always open. That is where they relieve themselves, the poo can be picked up without much trace but it's the wee thats really begining to smell. I've tried bleach and strong smelling disenfectants (Zoflora) without much success, it tends to take the smell away for a short period but as soon as its dried it seems to smell again. Also I've noticed we are getting more flies, and with the door being open they are getting in the house, ugh.

Michelle.

I always use a dilute mixture of Jeyes Fluid outside on the patio.

But you must make sure that it is washed down with clear water and completely dry before allowing the dogs access to the concrete.

It is the only thing I have found that combats the really bad ammonia smell.

A.D.D. Disenfectant is almost as good but doesn't keep the smell away as long.

I bought a pressure washer and it is fantastic! good fun to use too. No smells here!

Ted, you boys and your toys!!! :D My hubby insisted on buying one last week and spent the whole weekend looking for things to blast with it. I've never seen such white paving slabs - they glow in the dark!! The dog yard is now HIS responsibility!! :D ;)

Try Odour Kill. Very good at getting rid of nasty niffs ! We use after hosing down and smells very nice too and use it in the house as well ! It is not a disinfectant though so still do that on a regular basis as well.

Hi Michelle

I use Domestos - scrub it in and leave it for about an hour then rinse it off either with the hose or the pressure washer. I don't find a problem with recurring smells once it's dried. It really works for me. I occasionally use Trigene as well which has a nice smell :)
I'd rather smell p*** than Jeyes Fluid :(

PS. Don't use Jeyes Fluid if you have cats.

Thanks everyone.
I've never used Jeyes fluid, is it that bad.
I will try all suggestions though.
Thanks Michelle.

I use odour kill or any other kennel disenfectant and what I do is I fill up a plant food spray thingy !! You know the kind - Grow More or what every it's called and I give the back door a spary every day. When you use one of then it gives a light covering and you don't get the nasty niffs mind you in winter that can be a bit of a problem with ice, but that ages away !

Any suggestions on combatting a smelly 14yr old black labrador? It's not a smell I can pinpoint but she hardly every goes out - seems to have a phobia of being out in the garden - would rather lay on the rug in the lounge as she stands at the back door panting and looking anxious to come back in. Therefore she gets little fresh air. The smell is not pleasant - Pity you can't use Jeyes fluid on her!
