I bought a GSD on Sunday (1st June), and the breeder gave me a bag of Beta Puppy, but to be honest she is not at all interested in i have only been able to get her to eat one much which is around 9pm at night (she is 7 weeks).
I have a 6yr GSD, she is on Hills Tuna and Rice with a tin of tuna (in spring water) mixed in with it. I know she has only bee home for a few days and needs to ajust, but i feel bad that she is not eat. She goes to the toilet fine, so there is no probs there. Does anyonen think that i should change her food.

Hi.. My pup (dobe) went off his food when I first brought him home you are not alone with this situation. Try mixing in some tuna fish with her meal and only feed small portions a few times a day. I tried all sorts of things with Sydney. He did like cat food (whiskers pouches) so I used to mix this with his soaked biscuits. He would eat this quite well. Mix in some cooked chicken try some liver as well. He still is a picky eater now 19 weeks especially with this hot weather we have been having, so perhaps this could be part of the trouble as well. Im sure I read somewhere on this forum that GSD are sometimes picky eaters.

I wouldnt advise to change the food as this may upset her tummy and make the situation worse. Others will be along soon to give you more advice as well. Best of luck. Im sure that she will eat if hungry enough.

i started mixing in tuna last night which she ate happily but when i gave her this morning she turned her nose up and walked away. I have been offering it to her all day so hopefully she will eat when hungry probably tonight.
She was bought up a tripe which i was given a pack when i bought her home but the same thing happened cooked it up for her and she turned her nose up but gave it to her at night ans she ate it all, strange.
GSD's are picky my 6yr (Ice) is a nightmare if i give her tinned dog food she has the runs if i give her mince or chicken she has the runs, even if i boil it then rinse it with a boiling kettle. She doesn't chew bones either (the denta rasks), but give her cheese and ham and fish and she will lap it up.
But hopefully my puppy (inca) will start to eat soon. I have contacted the breeder for advice but she hasn't got back to me yet.
She is drinking well so i really don't think the is anything wrong, but we have a vet check on Friday for her injections so if she isn't eating propaly by then, i will consult him.

Hello just to say that you dont cook the tripe you give it raw with puppy meal which you do soak in warm water first then mix it with the tripe, give live yogurt once or twice aweek if you are giving dryed food soak it in hot water first let it stand for 30 mins until cool, lots of luck Jackie.

I have been having trouble with my nine week old golden retriever. I was trying to feed him on the prize choice frozen mince and puppy biscuit that the breeder recommended and he only ate very little. The breeder then advised me to try tesco value mince which is a beef/pork frozen, freeflow mix. At the last the poor little thing had a good meal and even ate the small amount of nutro feed which I had soaked and added to it as I eventually intend to change over to the complete for large breed puppies. I think he had an aversion to the chicken, rabbit and lamb minces and only liked beef. I have since been informed that he had been fed on a majority of minced beef.
