Hi All Millie's temperature has been 38-38.5 but today she is very quite and only laying in her bed and doesn't want to go out, Her temperature has dropped to 37.3 and she had been shivering earlier, Also the last few days she has been losing a clear non smelley discharge " like mucas", and when she does go out for a wee she keeps checking behind her, also she has started digging at her bedding, And for the last few days she has not eaten or drank hardly anything!
Any advice would be really welcome thanks Lou

Hi - She had 8 in total (no.8 arrived 8.5 hrs after no.7!!). She started panting heavily on Saturday lunchtime, very restless through the night, refused her breakfast on Sunday morning and the first pup arrived at 11.30am. Keep us updated and good luck! What breed?

Hi Katia, millie is a staff, she is still laying on her bed and doesn't move only when i take her out she still not eaten or drank any thing, Had fun this morning thoe because she got in to my lounge in the early hours and decided to try and make a nest out of one of my chairs so she has destroyed one so its a new suite for me!!! Her temperature is still at 37.3 and she was panting in the night but that has now stopped! her temperature has always been around 38.3-38.5 so it is still lower. every thing else seems to be going well at the moment I cant wait now for the pups, Millie has just started panting again!!!
Thanks again Lou

Sounds like everything is progressing normally. When I take temps on my bitch I start when you do. I record them so I have a list and can watch the flucutations. I take them every 12 hours. What I look for is a large or significant drop. If her average temp is 101 degrees, then it will flutter around 99 - 100 degrees. One time you will take it and it should show up in the area of 97 degrees. None of this is scientific put approximates.
The clear mucus discharge is normal. It gets the vagina ready for the delivery. The digging in her bedding is also normal. She is trying to prepare a place to have the pups.
The shivering is probably a mild contraction just like in people. Some pain is associated with it so therefore the shiver. Shivering is how some dogs handle certain types of pain.
Hope this helps.
