we have just been away for a week and sam came with us, he had been behaving until one afternoon, i had got up to go up stairs and left him down with my mother in law, she said he all of a sudden he jumped on to her lap as if something had scared him and weed all over her, now sam is a clean dog so i put it down to the weather being so hot, then when hubby came in he was playing with sam in the garden when all of a sudden he started to wee and ran and hide behind me, after a minute he was fine
he has'nt done it since
any ideas

hi sammy....maybe you should get him checked for a urinary tract infection.dobies are prone to those...if they start having accidents for no reason i alway suspect that....

Awww, poor Sam. Sounds like he's a bit distressed, was he scared of something at the time? My beagle sometimes wees in fear, he runs to me for protection & always manages to sprinkle on my shoe! It can be an aeroplane, hot air ballon, loud truck, agressive dog or a sudden movement that sets him off.
If it's not any of these then I guess it's back to the rip off merchant. More commonly known as The Vet.

hi
there was'nt any thing that spooked him as far as i know, even when hubby was playing with him he just jumped up and ran to me after he had weed on brian, he has'nt done it since so maybe some thing did or could he have been bitten by a insect and that had frightend him, he was playing on the grass
Hi
This is the first time I have heard that Dobermanns are prone to UTI's - never had one with any of mine in all the years I have had them.
Sometimes pups just can't control themselves - especially if something has frightened them but it it keeps happening then I would get him checked out.
How is his limping now? Did you have to go to the vet with him?

hi
we took him to the vet and they said he had probly pulled a mussle, with all the running he has been doing, i did cut his exercise off the lead down, and walked him on the lead it seems to be much better,
he has now eyes drops and even though he had nothing in his eye the vet said it could be were he runs through the grass and churns up all of the muck and some might have gone in to his eyes, she put some drops in that turned his eyes bright green, " scarey" still that vet was at mother in laws in essex and with all that and cutting his nails she charged £25.00, never known it so cheep, as we vist quiet alot i have kept him registered there
How old is he - if he is teething or around a year old when the teeth seem to really settle into the jaw then their eyes do get very mucky.
A teabag (removed before you put the milk in) and put in the fridge for a while is ideal for putting a few drops in the eye and cleaning them. Only to be used if the gunk is grey - any other colour refer to vet.

his nearly 2yrs, his eyes always seem full of sleep, but the eye is'nt inflamed, he just kept rubbing it on anything, and he started to take the fur off round his eye, which has know started to grow back, he will put his head on the floor with his bum in the air and slide down to the floor, so could it be carpet burns
